  5. The United Kingdom's maritime radio service provide a broadcast service
  6. of weather forecasts, traffic lists, gale warnings and navigational
  7. warnings etc broadcast in accordance with a pre-published schedule.
  8.  
  9. Gale warnings are broadcast on receipt and at the next scheduled time
  10. or, if the first broadcast is at a scheduled time, the warning is
  11. repeated at the end of the next silence period.
  12.  
  13. [silence period is a period of three minutes on every hour and half hour
  14. during which *all* coastal and ship based stations listen for distress
  15. and low powered signals]
  16.  
  17. The UK's maritime radio service is divided into two regions, (Northern
  18. Region and Southern Region).
  19.  
  20. The Northern Region consists of the following medium frequency stations
  21. :-

  23. GHD  Hebrides Radio  1866 KHz  GPK  Portpatrick Radio  1883 KHz
  24.  
  25. GKR  Wick Radio [also includes Norwick Radio]  1770 KHz and 1764 KHz
  26.  
  27. GND  Stonehaven Radio  2691 KHz  GCC Cullercoats Radio 2719 KHz

  30. The Southern Region consists of the following mf stations :-
